I painted this scene in my yard in February ‘25, an unseasonably warm day. The dogs were happy to be out in the sun and so was I. Winter is a great time to paint a landscape if you can get out, because the trunks and branches of the trees are more visible than when they are covered with leaves in the warmer months. Painting trees is very similar to painting the human figure and I was especially feeing that in the pinkish tree in the right portion of this piece.
